Laurel Waterman, PhD

Laurel Waterman is an educational researcher interested in consciousness education, which explores perspectives on the source and nature of consciousness and their implications for ways of being, knowing, teaching, and learning. She holds a doctorate in Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning, with an emphasis on holistic education and well-being, from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. She has taught narrative nonfiction writing at the University of Toronto since 2009 and is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Alef Trust's MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality, and Transpersonal Psychology. She is a board member of The Scientific and Medical Network (SMN), an educational organization that focuses on the intersection of science and spirituality. She is also a member of the Academy for the Advancement of Postmaterialist Sciences (AAPS Global) and the Society for Consciousness Studies. Laurel’s research focuses on consciousness studies and transformative learning, aiming to popularize participatory, postmaterial, and transpersonal paradigms of consciousness in the field of education.
