Albert “Skip” Rizzo, PhD

Dr. Albert “Skip” Rizzo is a leading figure in immersive therapeutics and serves as Director of the MedVR Lab at USC’s Institute for Creative Technologies. In recognition of his groundbreaking work, he was inducted into the 2025 AWE XR Hall of Fame. 

For over two decades, Dr. Rizzo has advanced the science of extended reality (XR) for clinical care. He developed Bravemind, a virtual reality exposure therapy platform that has become a vital tool in treating PTSD among veterans and service members. His innovative research spans a wide range of conditions, including PTSD, traumatic brain injury, autism, and cognitive aging, and continues to shape the use of XR in healthcare worldwide.
